Forge Fencing Teams hosts its semi-annual SWAP Meet this Thursday-Saturday, August 29th-31st. Community members can participate in the SWAP Meet hosted at Forge Fencing Academy & Club, 610 N. Duke Street in Durham, Thursday and Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and on Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
Donations are solicited during this event, but are not required to use and participate in this community gear exchange. Any donations made during the SWAP Meet go to support Forge Team’s outreach programs with teen leadership, scholarship programs, and after-school outreach.
The semi-annual SWAP Meets support Forge Team’s mission by providing equipment for teen-led afterschool programs and fencing students across North Carolina in need of equipment. Ease of access to equipment helps reduce barriers to participation by eliminating the stigma of money to have one’s own fencing gear, increasing feelings of social inclusiveness as well as a basic need for participation.
